Support St. Mary's Center this Mother's Day

After becoming a mom at age 16, Jamel and her young son lived in various shelters across Massachusetts before moving to St. Mary's Center's Transitional Housing Program.

Upon arrival, Jamel and her son were met with the support of a dedicated team while learning independent living skills and paying rent in their beautiful apartment on St. Mary's Center's Dorchester campus.  Jamel was employed and enrolled in school determined to achieve her goals to provide her family with a bright future.  With the support and encouragement of the St. Mary's Center team, she proudly graduated with a bachelor's degree from Boston University and is currently pursuing a master's degree with the goal of entering a career in mental health counseling to support others in similar positions as she once was.

She and her son are happy, healthy, and thriving in Transitional Housing, feeling encouraged to chase their dreams thanks to the support of the St. Mary's Center team.

Jamel's story is just one of many stories of St. Mary's Center's incredible residents overcoming barriers through hard work and determination, working hand-in-hand with their supportive team to reach their goals and achieve long-term self-sufficiency.

In honor of Mother's Day, please consider making a gift to St. Mary's Center.  Your support of our residential programs and critical wrap-around support services helps hundreds of families just like Jamel's each year break down barriers to achieve lasting, powerful change.
